Measure before choosing

Measure the top diameter, bottom diameter and straight vertical height of your current shade. Compare its mounting hardware with the replacement shade as well. Check the space around the lamp so a wider shade will not crowd a wall, chair or nearby objects. Keep your lamp base stable and follow its bulb and clearance instructions.

Match the fitting as well as the dimensions. A spider fitting rests on a harp and is usually held by a finial. An uno fitting attaches at the socket, while a clip-on fitting grips the bulb. These arrangements need different hardware. Before ordering, confirm the replacement shade uses the fitting your lamp needs and sits at the correct height over the bulb.

If you are unsure, contact us with photos of the lamp base and existing fitting, along with the shade measurements.

Compare the top and bottom diameters. The 12- and 14-inch tapered drums have a gentle taper. The 16- and 18-inch British Empire shades widen more noticeably toward the bottom. Choose the shape that suits your base, then check the fitting and surrounding space before ordering.

Light reveals the cocoa-leaf veins and overlapping leaf shapes. Shade color, bulb color and brightness affect the result. Eangee recommends LED bulbs and discourages incandescent bulbs because heat can discolor the shade. Follow the bulb limits of your lamp base and the shade specifications.
